University of Chicago/Fermilab Shuttle Program

Wecome to the PSD's Shuttle Page.

The shuttle is jointly sponsored by the PSD, the EFI, the Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics and the Department of Physics at the University of Chicago.

The shuttle is a car which carries up to 4 passengers (5 people including the driver). It is available to take PSD students, faculty, staff, and postdocs back and forth between the University of Chicago and Fermilab to work on experiments and attend meetings at the latter location.

When booked, the car will typically leave at 8:30 in the morning but 7:00 AM departures can also be arranged. Unless agreed upon by all passengers on a given day, the departure from Fermilab for the University will be at 6:00 PM. Ride: ~ 45 miles (~1 hour).

Drivers
All drivers must be approved by the University as prescribed the department of Risk Management in the 'Approved Drivers' section at the Automobile Insurance page.

This entails reading the relevant documents found under the 'Approved Drivers' section, signing the relevant Vehicle Use Acknowledgement form, and undergoing a Motor Vehicle Records check as described in the documents. To begin the process of becoming an approved driver, speak to the shuttle program administrator [psd-ride@box.uchicago.edu] in the PSD. In order for the shuttle to run on any given day, an approved driver must be available to drive the car.
